We had such a good response to my last article regarding blogs that I decided to spend a little more time on it.
One of the hardest things about writing a blog is coming up with ideas on what to write about. Here are 20 hot blog topics to help fight blogger’s block and get your financial institution started.
Getting started is always the hardest part – hopefully this will make it easier! Let me know if you think of others…
- The best way to negotiate the price of a new home and how to get a mortgage. “Use the inspection to help lower the sales price.”
- Tips for growing a small business including how to use online bill pay, remote capture and payroll services. “Reduce your company’s liability of sending an employee to the bank each day with your deposits.”
- How to prepare a will and other estate planning ideas. “You’ve worked hard for you money. Don’t leave it to the government.”
- The best ways to buy stock and how to pay for it. “How to buy on margin to maximize profits.”
- IRAs and other ways to plan for retirement. “There are easier ways to retire than being a greeter at the local hardware store.”
- Tips on finding a new or used car and the multiple ways to finance it. “Sometimes the dealership offers a great rate to help sell the cars – take it!”
- What can remote capture do for my business? “And this is not about looking for criminals in far off places!”
- How to use Google Wallet, Paypal and other bill paying pals. “What will soon be in your wallet?”
- Why apartment communities (select an industry) need our bank services. “Every industry has its own unique cash flow needs.”
- How new bank regulations could cause banks to raise their fees. “It’s gotten harder for banks to make a profit, thanks to our friendly government.”
- What is the best way to refinance your second mortgage? “You’ve been taking care of your house for years. Now let it take care of you!”
- What do banks need to know when a person applies for a mortgage? “Why does someone have to sign 45 pieces of paper just to get a loan?”
- Why do I have to pay a bank to hold my money? “I thought banks made money using my money!”
- What is wealth management and who qualifies? “What does it take to get into this club?”
- How to biggie-size your IRA. “What’s a Roth and what’s not?”
- Insurance uncovered. “From title insurance to burial insurance and everything in between.”
- How to make a deposit with your smart phone. “How did it get to be that smart?”
- Things you should know about identify theft. “You’ve spent a lifetime building a great reputation. Make sure you keep it!”
- What is our bank’s privacy policy? “Keeping up with the Joneses is harder than ever.”
- From piggy banks to online banks. “Everything you wanted to know about banks but were afraid to ask.”
As you can see, there are many subjects that a community bank or credit union can write about that existing and prospective customers would find interesting.
Supplying this information gives you instant credibility and helps move your financial institution up in the search rankings. But keep in mind that a blog is not about selling your products or services – it’s about providing useful information.
Not only will readers know the difference, but the search engines will, too.
